Lisbon by Day

During the day of this wonderful scale I first took the Metro to Cais do Sodré and I got to see the Ponte 25 de Abril (25 of April Bridge, 4th photo) which apparently is called the "twin sister" of the Golden Gate. In the photo you don't appreciate it, but live you can see why. It's massive, beautiful and red; smaller though.

Afterwards took the Metro to Avenida Liberdade, Lisbon's main boulevard where all the high-end shops are. I walked around a little and had an early lunch, shrimp soup and octopus salad. Yumm. Then, back to the airport straight to an 8 hours flight. Not fun.

Someday I want to go back to Lisbon with more than 24 hours to get to know it better... and eat more!

PS. I'm reading a really nice book, that is not on the list of Uni that I should be reading right now, and it's from 1979, but it's so interesting that I haven't been able to stop. It's called The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler. Have a look. It's worth it.

Las Rayas

Happy Friday

One of the few things you miss when you're working as a freelance is the Friday happiness. Since everyday is pretty much the same, you usually forget what day it is and Fridays passes by without any glory. So looking for reasons to celebrate I discovered that I have quite a few, I've been invited to be a regular collaborator of Mono Magazine and gotta send my article today. Also tonight is the releasing party of the 8th number of 7Capas the skate magazine I collaborate with as a sort of Style Editor. Happy friday it is!

Photos belong to the usually girls-day-out brunch I try to do every month (every other month, once a year maybe?) with my friends Daniela and Lara and to the book I've started to read yesterday: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

A suitable soundtrack for this post, since is the music I'm listening right this instant, is the latest Kasabian album that you can hear on stream on The Guardian page.

OCD

The Swiss artist Ursus Wehrli demonstrates that OCD can be a rather amazing visual exercise. You can see this in his book Kunst Aufräumen where he shows "die ganze Welt in Ordnung", the whole world in order.

If your obsession, whatever that is, can deliver such beautiful images, I definitely would encourage you to love it, live it and share it with the world! x

Shoot With Your Heart

Lomography just announced the finalists of their Ten Prophecies Contest and it happens that my friend Susie Lomovitz is one of them. For the challenge she made a beautiful book and documented the process with an equally nice video so I'm almost positive that she's going to be the winner. Fingers crossed for Su!

Her 11th prophecy is: Shoot with your heart. That's definitely good advice both for lomography in particular, and life in general.

About books

Today I found two interesting things related to books. The first one is the work of illustrator Claudia Varosio, you should definitely check her Etsy Shop to see nice illustrations, like this one here, of several classic books and films. Even though there's kind of a boom about doing alternative posters for movies, she manage to not follow the same path that others, and her style stands out. I specially like the posters for E.T. and A Single Man.

My second discovery of the day was this site called The Browser, Writing Worth Reading, as they say. They have a section called Five Books, where people recommend their favorite five books in relation to an specific topic, can be Shakespeare, can be War, can be Poetry, or as it is in their latest post can be Inspiration, and the books were picked by Woody Allen. One of his picks was Catcher on the Rye, that reminded me of Claudia's poster and that's why I ended up writing this post.
