Bye Bye March

March and one of the most hectic weeks of the year are over. I'm thankful because a lot of things went well. Lots of good news about my family and friends, yay. Keep the good things coming!

Bite size links and info:

-The photo is from my Lomography page. I posted photos of my bday there (it was in December but I uploaded them this week).
- I've been listening to this song non stop this week.
- If you want to see some amazing images of the Universe, here's the link for the Hubble Legacy Archive.
- There's free shipping in Society6 until Sunday, if you're looking for an iPhone case, have a look at mine :)

Sometime during the week I heard someone say that March was the new January, and I totally agree. I feel that things are finally in motion. What do you reckon?

Busy-ish

This past week I didn't have time to blog or have a look at my precious blogroll, not much as I would wanted at least. Being my schedule so loose these past months, this sudden lack of time is obviously a good sign. It means job, stuff to do outside, homework, deadlines, having fun, interacting with human beings and all the things in between. Also means Draw Something a little bit. Dangerous app.

But because I've missed you, and I've missed my daily fix of procrastination, I'm here, writing this, sharing some photos from last week (specifically from a weekly rooftop party at the Pulitzer Hotel), saying hello and having a look around to see what have happened in this peculiar world.

Hope you are all doing well... and please wish me luck! (I'll explain later and I promise a decent post soon x).

Sunday Sunday

Nice improvised Sunday with Lara, Dani and Rosario. Lunch, chai tea and long chats at Krishna, Brazilian music on the street along with champagne from a store opening, and then ping-pong at Café San Bernardo, the most traditional and interesting place I've been in Buenos Aires in quite some time. Amazing.

Courtesy of Aspen, "the classics' radio", this song is part of the day's soundtrack. What about you? How was your Sunday?

Photos, Links and Mean Reds

Manor House's Window.

Always wanted to go in. Never did.

  Victoria & Albert Museum.

Photos in Jamie Hewllet's Studio.

Ryan's, amazing Bloody Marys. Church St. Stoke Newington.

Camden Market.

Stoke Newington High Street.

Notting Hill (duh) unknown street.

Lovely chairs.

Camden Town canals.

This past couple of weeks have been very rollercoastery. I've been happy, tired, bored, excited, uninspired and everything in between. I have a lot in my mind. Holly Golightly used to call this 'the mean reds'. Hopefully the weekend sensation (for me, as a freelance that doesn't have to go to an office everyday, the weekend exists, but it no more than a sensation) will wash this feelings away.

Randoms from the week:

- The photos of the post are from London, of course. Lovely, far away, not so close, London.
- Writing an article yesterday I discovered a funny geek guy called Garth Sundem. He makes mathematics equations for solving everyday dilemas suchs as: How many drinks should I have at the conferences hotel bar tonight? Fun.
- I've been listening to this nice mixtape from Sincerely Hana. You should have a look at her photographic work. She have a couple of awesome projects going on.
- Yesterday when I was reaching the top of the mean reds so I went out to grab a coffee and I spotted a girl with one of my totes. That made me happy. I took a photo of her like a papparazzi.
- Finally, Charlie Brooker on Kony2012. Genius.

4 Years

Four years ago on the 10th of March I was leaving Caracas to come to live in Buenos Aires. I was looking at old photos from those days when every little thing that I take for granted now used to amazed me. Good times. I think I need to feel like that again. Hopefully I will later this year. Fingers crossed! x

PS. A mixtape for the occasion in my 8Tracks :)

PS 2. The dinner pics were taken in Bereber, an incredible Moroccan place that was our favorite. We had amazing times in there. They closed it down like a year ago. We don't know why and we still miss it!

Caracas, the unhappy city

A couple a days ago was Gabriel García Marquez's birthday. I guess for that reason there was a text of him being posted and twittered all over the Internet usual sites. A moment ago I decide to read that text.

People often say about literature that for your words to be universal and be able to resonate with everyone, or at least deeply with someone, they need to come from a really personal and intimate place. That is because regardless of our specific circumstances, we all have certain things in common: loves, fears, illusions... all those things that keeps us wide awake in the middle of the night. Maybe that's why García Marquez's words describe perfectly a lot of the feelings I often have about Caracas, that unhappy city that I've been missing a lot these days.

The first time I had heard of her was in a Simón Bolívar's phrase: Caracas, the unhappy. Since then, not often I have heard people talking about Caracas without her name being accompanied by that old unfortunate fate. Apparently, her destiny is the same of some great lineage human beings; they cannot be loved but by those who are capable to bear them.

The rest of the text, if you speak Spanish, you can read it here.

Emotional Pantone

A couple of weeks ago I saw on TV a little bit of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. As I was watching I started to remember how I loved that film the first time I saw it. I thought it was amazing how that wonderful couple (Gondry/Kaufman) managed to create Lacuna Inc, something that I guess we all have wished it existed at some point of our lives. I was happy to see that Jim Carrey was a surprisingly perfect fit for the Joel character, same goes to Mark Ruffalo, Kirsten Dunst and (creepy) Elijah Wood, and specially I loved Clementine, that "fucked up girl looking for her own peace of mind", that had so much yet so little in common with me.

Anyway. Clementine's hair-color changed depending on her mood. When she and Joel meet on the train she was wearing it blue, Blue Ruin. This name supposedly was given to that color (and mood) because of a Tom Waits song: 9th and Hennepin. Dark.

It is known by everyone that colors have influence in our emotions. I've been reading that since my early days in uni, for saying the least. But just so you know the reason I decided to make this badges was not that distant theoretical knowledge, it was Blue Ruin, Clementine, Eternal Sunshine, Montauk and its overrated sand. Someone has to have the job of naming colors, she said on that train. Why not me?

The badges are almost ready. I'm adjusting colors and designing the packaging. I'll keep you posted about this and I hope you like them.

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd."
