Dos Mil Doce (I)

January

The year started, as usual, in Venezuela. This time I got to go to the beach, that's always an awesome way to start anything. I went back to Buenos Aires, the city was hot and lonely so everything happened kind of slowly. I celebrated the Chinese New Year, helped my friend Ale make a music video (I'll show you when I can show you)

February

Groundhog day was on the same day and Phil predicted 6 more months of winter. I started reading the wonderful A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. I sent all my Uni applications, and started waiting and dreaming about the future while working loads with my friend/business partner Pian via Skype :)

March

English classes started and with them a new routine, at least of a couple of months. I start using the train and loved Retiro Station every single day. I visited places in Buenos Aires that I never had seen like the San Bernardo Pool and Café and at the end of the month saw Roger Water's The Wall thanks to my dear friend Yiya.

April

The weather was finally nice and my lovely Isa and I enjoyed it day and night in The Clubhouse pool parties. Our talent really lies in drinking... good times! I started a job in a office for a couple of months. Saw an amazing, moving and very intimate Björk concert, thanks to my friend Martín (who every year invites me to very nice concerts, I want to see how we're going to make it in 2013). Finally the good-bye season at the Shanghai Dragon started with Ale and Gaby.

May

Celebrate with cider the first acceptance letters from Uni. Had a very original time at my dear friend Dougla's birthday playing games. He experimented with our minds and showed us that the world can be exactly how you want it to be. Also with Dag we met Pancho, the dog holding the ballon. Best. Dog. Ever.

June

This month was really dense. I applied for my Visa and desperately started to do all the things I never did before in Buenos Aires. Just in case. Any thing still could have happened. In June 21th I celebrated that we still had 6 months till the end of the world (as we knew it).

This summary, that is helping me remember a lot of things
that I had forgotten, will continue in another post.
One of my new year wishes will be the ability to abridge.
Promised!

Six Months

The world is ending, smile :)

For those of you who don't know me, I must say that the idea of the world ending this next December fascinates me. Whether you believe in the Mayan prophecies or not, the human kind its been waiting for this moment for thousands of years, and at the end (pun intended) we are the ones that will see what is going to happen. If anything happens at all of course. That's something special, innit?

Some would say that all of this is about a change in the world that is already happening, and I totally agree, but I'm not talking about that, I'm interested in the existence of an expiration date and how we are reacting to it, from the most skeptical to the Harold Camping followers.

I've been keeping a 2012 Tumblr, with articles from magazines and newspapers, some very scientific, other just crazy like the Doomsday Dating Site or the Top 5 End of the World Destinations. Also two years ago I made an end-related t-shit collection (in the photo my friend Cristina is wearing one). And this last December I made a beginning-related tote. After every end, there's always a new beginning. Or so they say. They also say the world might end in exactly six months, smile :)

PS: I've found out today that this next 21 of December is called: TEOTWAWKI, short for "the end of the world as we know it". Go figure.

Así Sea

Todasana, Venezuela.

Welcome 2012. I've been expecting you.
A little bit of Caribbean salt water is what I call a good way to start the year.
How was your first of January?

Bienvenido 2012. He estado esperándote desde hace tiempo.
Un poco de agua salada del Caribe es definitivamente la manera ideal de comenzar el año.
¿Cómo estuvo tu primero de enero?

2011

January. The year started in Caracas. Try to go to the beach a couple of times and failed. Finally went to the beach a couple of times. Went to El Ávila a lot. Decided to stay one more month.

February. Designed a Memory Game prototype with my friend Ale. Flighted back to Buenos Aires. Payed the bills. Quit my office job. Met a lot of new friends in La Casa Latina.

March. Started a brunch tradition with Lara and Daniela. Travelled to Córdoba to saw a massive moon. Went to Tigre. My friends Danielle and Andrea came to Buenos Aires. Had little to sleep.

April. My friend Chipi got married. Hanged out with Andrea, Danielle and Jean-Sylvain. Went to The National and Flaming Lips concerts. Didn't take much photos.

May. Made badges. Walked around Buenos Aires.  Saw lots of movies. The world didn't end.

June. Traveled to London for the first time in my life. Fell deeply in love with the city. Walked around with Lore and Ariany. Met the Manor and their lovely residents, amazing people. Moved to Stoke Newington. Crashed into Glastonbury. Saw Paul Simon. Let the "diversion" began!

July. Got to know my new neighborhood, learned new English words and some slang. Had Fish & Chips and my first Sunday Roast. Traveled a weekend to Paris to see my friend Danielle. Went to Lovebox and Secret Garden Party. Traveled to the West Country. Drank cider in Sidmouth. Had lunch in Lyme Regis. Ate a Mr. Whippy in Durdle Door. Dressed as a gipsy in Bristol.

August. B-Right-On. Helped, danced and attended a mini Michael Jackson party at Playgroup. Ran around London trying to see what I hadn't saw. Met Lore, Joyce and Bader, for tea, beer and cider. Went to Wilderness Festival and saw a cricket game. Left London. Missed London. Woke up suddenly in Buenos Aires.

September. Worked a lot and spent lots of time at my house. Had brunch with the girls, and the boys. Played poker. Spring sprang.

October. My brand Objetitos turned 5. Started to sell badges to Magma in London. Went to listen a lovely hippie gig of my friends Lara and Daniela. Printed my "The Beginning is Near" totes.

November. Participated in Cristina's traveling notebooks project. My mom came to visit me. Also Ceci and Ale. Ran 10K. Went to Punta del Este, Uruguay and had a delicious time. Start organizing everything for my holidays trip. Seriously brunch season started.

December. Went around walking and eating with Ceci and Ale. Celebrated my birthday and some more. Went kayaking. Left Buenos Aires. Arrived in Caracas. Saw a lot of dear friends that now live in Chicago, London, Miami, New York, Madrid. Thought how fast this year have passed. And a couple of hours ago I saw the first star appear over Caracas' sky (right there in the left corner) the last day of the year in a square near home.

This was one of the best years of my life. Lived, loved and learned a lot. Hope 2012 is everything I've always dream it will be and more.

Lots of love for all of you and the best of lucks next year! x
